The In Imitation of Film, Nicholas Balaker states that many of kids around globe are sometimes affected or influence by the actors in the movies they see. Thirty-eight percent of children started smoking by watching their favorite movies.

In the findings of Dr. James explaining that the “R-rated movies contain twice as much smoking “as other films, I think that a child picking up the habit in smoking just because they are watching a movie or television is outrageous.

In reading reading describes, Dr. James D Sargent, the lead author on the study for pediatrics at Dartmouth Medical school, who interviewed 6,522 children nationwide about their movie watching, children who had the highest exposure to watching movies with smoking scenes, they are more than two and a half times likely to start smoking as those who had the least contact.

The reason for me saying that is the fact that, every individual is different and the makeup of everyone is. Now, if a child is watching a R-rated movie and see’s one of his or her favorite movie star smoking ,and that child decided to follow in their footsteps, and that child took the first pull and hated the fact that it don’t feel right, that child might not turn out a smoker.

However I think R-rated movies are influential to a child, who may have grown up in the environment seeing his or her parents smoking and watching a favorite actor or actress doing the puffing, as a result of that I think that child might turn out a smoker. Yet I do believe that it’s the upbringing of that child will tell the future, poor or rich.

In reading this piece in my life growing up, my mother and father smoked and I have tried doing it but grew it out of it, I will never put that in my mouth again.

Or what about the percentage of a child who started smoking who can’t watch movies or the child who has no television,

In conclusion the affect that the parents have on a child is great impact on his or her life not the television or a movie star .

Blog 9 Food safety

Food safety

With the increases in industrial farming and corporate consolidation in the U.S food production system, mass production (quantity) has become of high importance. Because of this, the quality and standard of the food being produced suffers greatly which can lead to serious health concerns.

Two areas, of the production process, where this quantity over quality approach has become most apparent are in the areas of Waste Management and Processing.

Concentrated farming creates situations where massive amounts of animal waste are produced in very small areas. Because of this, the waste produced is not disposed of properly. According to the USDA “ One dairy farm with 2,500 cows produces as much waste as a city with around 411,000 residents. Unlike human waste, however, in most cases the law does not require that livestock waste be treated.” A more scale back approach to production would allow for waste to be disposed of in a more appropriate manner, but this is not the case with the current system.

Apart from this waste management issues, the processing part of this mass production approach has equally poor standards. Serious sanitation lapses occur that leads to “the presence of fecal matter from slaughtered animals, which can contaminate meat with high levels of bacteria such as E coli.”

As I have shown, serious issues can arise in the areas of waste management and processing due to the mass production of the food we eat. These problems will continue to exist with serious health consequences if this quantity over quality approach continues.

                                                                The Dangers of Reality TV

In my easy I will explain why television reality shows reinforces allot of unsafe messages, and the dangers of these shows affect our everyday life. These television shows affect society in sometimes a negative way, however most of these shows also promote a lot of “competition and the value of image over ability and also the obsolescence of education,” many reality television shows have come and gone, as a child growing up in this ERA most of these shows sends out the significance of competition, why I say that is the fact that shows try to educate you as if you was a toddler, there was one on television called the Flavor of Love. Now this show has a group of girls are in a mansion with only one man and these girls would try or do anything to stab the other in their back with a lot of disrespect to go along with. All these girls are competing to win the man’s heart and also trying to be famous with riches, some say competition is the key to success but not everything in life have to be about competition, but competition is what sells.
Because even the same television companies compete to reach the top. The image of these shows in the minds of kids like the X Factor, survivor, and the apprentice and many more, the kids may think that it’s cool to go on one of these shows and get rich just by singing or jumping off a cliff, eating worms, bugs, politics and even going days without a shower, thinking they could walk out of that show with a container of money without even trying to attend college and obtain a education is not acceptable for anyone with the obsolescence to that mind set. Reality television also expose certain messages, that the solution to success is image relatively more than our ability. I oppose that because if a person know that they could win with their voice on a show like the X Factor, but because you are not that beautiful enough or attractive even if they have the talent to compete and off the street, meaning homeless you should still have a strong chance of winning the competition because of the image factor.
In conclusion reality Television has more unsound information, we should know that education comes first not trying to acquire riches from these shows, not brainwash by these shows education may give you that American dream.

The struggle between what society and me is, the fact that everyone should have to attend school from elementary to high school to college and obtain the most education you can. Considering my life with society is, I came from a different country at the age of fourteen years old and went to high school, my first day I attended the head of orientation told me I had to go back a grade which was the 10th grade so I did, well at that time I had to deal with being in class with younger and immature kids witch I didn’t like, so I decided  to cut class and go to allot od different friends apartments and  drink, smoke  also was into sales of different things . Hence the reason I wanted to disrespect society rules of schooling because at that time I had no guidance and also I just wanted to do my own thing at my own time, I thought at that time I would gain money, respect and comfort in what I was doing, being disobedient to the society I lived in.

After analyzing the class reading and watching The Truman show and The Allegory on how much does our reality depends on the media, is the fact that most people don’t see things for what they really are because if a person is blind to something that is going on in their life, there are times they might not realize until it’s too late. Meaning, there is so much going on in the world with technology the media brainwashing and the computer adds is stimulating our minds living in the box you put yourself in analyze your situation and to exit when it feels right    at times in the past I had friends that was females that would be loving some for a long period two years or so, and while in this relationship they would cry and stress because of the fact that they didn’t see it from the beginning. Living in that box and sometimes trying to exit that life is a very hard issue because love is there, in the allegory these men were watching shadows thinking of something was there just like my friend, looking for love in the wrong places or even with Truman, had put up a good fight until he finally broke away from his situation. Trying to find happiness, and now my friend is happy after she broke away.

This is my reflection on writing skills, which have taught me various writing patterns and clarity.  I have learned in terms of writing skills are recognizing my story’s root, controlling my pace, grammar, punctuations, collaboration, paragraphs. I have also learned how to let my writing flow using the correct place of articulation- nouns, verbs, adjective, adverbs, and conjunctions.
The proof of the things I have learned is in my writing. The difference between the times I obtained this information and before I knew how to format an essay show my growth in writing. Where I place my punctuations and periods. The distinction in my paragraphs, introduction and conclusion. My absorption on criticism as a positive and room for improvement.
There is no material we have covered unclear or confuses me. I have a great understand on the information given. If I do incur a problem or misunderstanding of the text I will bring to your attention.
In my opinion on my reflection on my writing skills I will have to say overall I feel more confident about my writing material. I can be given anything and asked to write a summary, thesis-based, annotating or paragraphing writing and believe it will be successful. I have been taught the basis and foundation for my writing and I have stored that information to continue flourishing script.

To say you know the truth of something or someone is to say you know for a certainty, no one or nothing can tell you different. Our society is built on what we are taught and told from individuals like ourselves. We sometimes believe the information given to us because of the facts presented with that statement, or because of lack of information and education. Rumors are typically generated from one individual passed along throughout many individuals.
The author in this reading is one whom is very disturbed by human beings easily deceived by rumors and lies. The author’s main concern is how easy people can be manipulated; it’s almost conformability for some. This passage exhibits a study conducted by Garret & Nesbit recruiting 750 individuals who were already exposed to a specific rumor. With their method of using insinuating pictures and inflammatory quotes these two men were able to divert ones beliefs already instilled in almost a third of these prospects.
According to a study mentioned in this passage, “when subjects are presented with data that contradicts their beliefs, they often – paradoxically – respond by sticking to their biases even more strongly.” Most individuals need to protect their ego or pride to uphold their thinking and way of life. Others merely don’t appreciate being told they are wrong. It is humane that the one believing it protects the values of his/her thoughts. As a human being we want to keep constant assurance that our opinions and the knowledge we have obtained, has helped enhance the structure of our characteristics. Who wants to have their character questioned?
Our brain plays a major role in the decisions that are made by us. The brain helps us determine what makes sense; it guides us when making a judgment call and it has the capability to constantly change. “Investigators look deeper in conducting studies of the brain to see how the prefrontal cortex – the seat of reason, the amygdala – the seat of fear and the other primal emotions, light up or power down in such situations.” This statement is based on chemical reactions performed in the brain that majority of us tend to forget play a major factor in the way we are made up.
In retrospect to this passage the author points out very informative studies and makes very compelling claims.  Our beliefs are what make our sense of identity mean something. We shouldn’t allow easy manipulation crowd our judgments and beliefs. “It’s up to us to find a place in a world of facts and make our decisions based on that information.”
